Import processing charge amendments from 1 January 2016

The Australian Government has recently announced a change to the Import Processing Charge (IPC) as part of the 2015-16 Commonwealth Budget. This is to be made effective on 1 January 2016.
The said amendments are in accordance with the Government’s desire to further support significant reforms set to aim the integrity of the border while improving the delivery efficiencies of the industry and removing cross subsidisation.
Major changes to the Import Processing Charge
The following are the major changes in the Import Processing Charges:
Adjusted price differential of $40 between electronically and manually lodged declaration
A consistent price differential of $40 between electronically and manually lodged declarations has been set. This is to make evident the additional work needed to manually enter and process documents as compared to the use of electronic lodgement of entries.
Warehoused goods
Electronic : $23
Documentary : $63
Price difference : $40
Communication of Import Declaration (N10) Warehouse Declaration (N20)
Goods with value of less than $1,000 but not more than $10,000
Electronic : $50
Documentary : $90
Price difference : $40
Goods with value equal or more than $10,000
Electronic : $152
Documentary : $192
Price difference : $40
Removal of price differential between air or post and sea cargo pathways
The current price differential between air or post and sea cargo pathways has been removed. The table below shows the new prices effective 1 January 2016.
